Capital ships are any class of huge combat starships designed for deep-space warfare. These vessels normally require large crews to operate, are mounted with huge numbers of weapon batteries and shield projectors, and often carry smaller ships such as shuttles and starfighters in their great hanger bays. Imperial Star Destroyers and Mon Calamari Star Cruisers are common examples of capital class ships.
